The Walk

The *Space* Walk

It starts with a picture book. You know, for kids.

If you’re reading this, you’re a paid subscriber to Random Orbit, and for this I thank you. This is the first of a few posts I have planned here where I tell the story of the story. The tale of The Walk. Where it came from, what it was, and what I’m imagining it to be. Over the next few missives, which will ramp up in publication now that I’m done teaching for the summer and I turned in the last of the work on this crazy Buildings picture book I’ve been working on, I’ll be taking you back to where this story came from: early notes in my sketchbooks, process drawings, sketches, anecdotes… And then, afterward, why I want to keep this going and make something new with it. Though the history of this project goes all the way back to 2013, I’m starting six years later, with the picture book called The Space Walk.
